Making Progress

Justin has cleared the property of most of the garbage and two of the cars that have been on the property for 20 plus years. He is working on the truck that's been there longer but it has started to fall apart so he has to get creative. To say this all was more difficult than I imagined would be an understatement. Take picking up the dumpster for example. The dude who picked it up called and asked for instructions and to let J know he was picking up the right thing. J gave him instructions and said if he didn't take the dumpster from the East side, he would get stuck. "I won't get stuck" I heard him say. 2 hours later, after having to wait for another truck to tow him out, the dumpster was finally removed. I am not sure where the next one will go.... we still have some items that need to go and there is more stuff across the road, on Daveys property, and in the back of Dena and Calvin's property.  Our property has really opened up, in all of this, ...

Fall days

It's been raining for days off and on. Right now it's raining dogs and cats (as Sally would say). Cooler weather has hit and its been really windy. We've stayed inside more this week, lots of crafts, games, reading and TV. We have gone outside when the rain stops and when we dress for it, the wetness and wind don't seem to slow us down much. Sallys imagination keeps her occupied, or Ruby and I occupied when she gets tired of playing by herself. We have been playing with Brookie a lot and there is still play group so we see other people - hahaha. This is what Fall and Winter on the East coast feels like I suppose. It's comfy and warm inside with the wood stove going. We've done lots of baking - current favs are Raisin bread and ginger molasses cookies.  Sally continues to be a great student. We do school work in the mornings and she never complains and works hard at the workbooks or science experiments. Her reading is really coming along - she is reading simple s...

Beautiful autumn

I love Autumn. The smells, the sights, the fresh cool air, the gathering of cozy things in preparation for a cold winter. It's a reminder that there is a cycle to all things. Fall is in its last throws here, but it is still so pretty and warm... 13 degrees today and sunny - I will take it. Justin is almost done extracting things from the wildness. The dumpster is full and the vehicles are moving. He managed to clear quite a bit out when he was extracting the trash and it's opened up our space quite a bit. He is going to be clearing out more in the coming weeks so it's exciting to watch it reveal itself to us. Time is marching along slowly but surely. We feel the cool chill in the mornings and a warm fire in the wood stove is a delight now. It's nice having a slow pace where you can watch the season change by the day. So much to be thankful for.
