The dog days of Summer

Feeling pretty thankful for the +23 degrees today. Sally, Ruby and I filled the pool, turned on the 90s dance tunes and had a pool party. Who said it's autumn?  We have spent more time down at the shore this week- its been absolutely magic down there. We have been exploring and collecting items from the beach for our fairy garden in the wildness.  Now that Justin has made a path through the forest, we have found a cozy little spot where we have started to build a little village out of forest materials. It allows our imagination to run wild and it is great for being able to identify what is actually in our wilderness. We have found mushrooms and all sorts of pinecone, berries, ferns, flowers and trees. We are identifying all of the trees that are going to be cut down and we have purchased a wood chipper to get rid of all the branches. It's coming along as Justin can only really do work on the weekends. More photos to come once the weekend has come and go...

Finding our groove

We are slowly finding our rhythm here and we have gotten into a bit of a routine. The girls are growing with all the sunshine and sea air. There are way more smiles in a day now and we are often out exploring, picking flowers or food from various trees, bushes or gardens. I have been home schooling Sally the past two weeks and its been going well. The house is starting to feel more like a home. We are feeling more settled in. With that, Justin has been out clearing the land in some of his downtime. It's starting to look good. We have a path that we can take a 4 wheeler through all the way from the old house (where we are living) to Js folks house. We are going to be mapping and measuring out our plan for the house, driveway, garage, garden and lawn. That is, once we have paths cut and some of the bigger sections of land cleared and the garbage removed. There is a lot of work left to do, but it is nice to see progress. We have started to fill the freezer we just purchase...

Fall is on its way.

The evenings are getting cooler, the flowers in the ditches are fading and the apples on the trees are ready for harvest. Fall is in the air. You can smell it and feel it. It's very tangible here, the ocean breeze has chilled and the leaves are starting to morph into their beautiful finale. I must admit, I am very excited for the autumn season here.  Sally, Ruby and I went for a walk to the shore today to go adventuring. We collected seashells and different rocks for further identification and crafts. We picked some apples off a tree for an apple pie we will bake later. We stopped to see fuzzy caterpillars and collected a wild flower bouquet for grandma. We stopped in at Dena and Calvin's for a coffee and banana and then headed back home. Just another day, but my heart is so full. It's days like today that we moved here for. Justin was in the wilderness sawing down trees and marking out where our house is going to go. The girls and I are wandering and exploring,...
