The evenings are getting cooler, the flowers in the ditches are fading and the apples on the trees are ready for harvest. Fall is in the air. You can smell it and feel it. It's very tangible here, the ocean breeze has chilled and the leaves are starting to morph into their beautiful finale. I must admit, I am very excited for the autumn season here.
Sally, Ruby and I went for a walk to the shore today to go adventuring. We collected seashells and different rocks for further identification and crafts. We picked some apples off a tree for an apple pie we will bake later. We stopped to see fuzzy caterpillars and collected a wild flower bouquet for grandma. We stopped in at Dena and Calvin's for a coffee and banana and then headed back home. Just another day, but my heart is so full.
It's days like today that we moved here for. Justin was in the wilderness sawing down trees and marking out where our house is going to go. The girls and I are wandering and exploring, I have identified some new berries that I can collect and see if we can make something out of. There are apple trees all around us filled to the top (20 feet high in some cases) of ripe, ready to eat apples. The other day I picked some and put it in a crisp. They turned pretty mushy but the flavor was great... perfect for apple jelly. Today I got a different apple and we will see what kind of pie it will make.
I feel alive and healthy, and my lungs are full of fresh salt air. Justin even commented that I look more relaxed. I can't believe how much I love living by the ocean. Not everyday is amazing, but today was pretty awesome. We live with such abundance and beauty around us, I feel so blessed.
