Our last night on the road

We had a light driving day today, only getting 250kms down the road. We stopped in Degelis, just West of the New Brunswick border. We will need to do New Brunswick and Nova Scotia in one shot due to border restrictions right now, and that is just over 800kms. Tomorrow will be a long day so because of this, we took it easy today and tried to have a good family day outside.
We got to Degelis shortly after 3 after we slept in a bit and took our time getting going. With the time change, it's been hard to get to sleep early and so we all were happy for the later sleep in. Once here, we went for a delicious late lunch and then went for walk to see some sights. There is a beautiful church from early 1900s here, St. Rose, that was beautiful but not opened. We then went and walked down their path system and found an amazing splash park and play park. We spent an hour here cooling down from the 27 degree heat (with humidity). A stop at Tim Hortons for a frozen lemonade and cold brew coffees and then we checked into the hotel. This hotel had a pool so we booked a time and before we knew it, Sally was splashing around having a blast. Ruby and I went across the street to the grocery store to get sustenance for tomorrow's drive. Our hope is to be able to have sandwiches and snacks tomorrow and not have to stop for very long.
We are almost there. It's hard to wrap my head around the fact that we will be home tomorrow. It's exciting and scarey and a little over whelping - I can't believe that what we have been working towards for 5 plus years is now here. We are looking forward to a week together where we don't have anything to do but hang out. Justin starts work again in August and then honestly, the work in Cape Breton will begin. But first, a break. A well deserved, much needed break.

It's nature!

When telling Sally, "Darling, you have grass in your hair." She looks at me and shrugs "ahhh, it's just nature." And walks away. She has better things to do, now  the sun is shining. Pickles, her constant companion, and her like to race to the mailbox and back. She has yet to win, but never stops trying. Her determination is solid, unwavering. Just like her loyalty to her dog. It's one of the things I admire most about her. J and Ruby were sitting watching a YouTube show on my phone the other day. She inevitably changed the show, as 2 year olds do. Justin asks her "Ruby, uh oh, what did you do?" She looks up at him with a quirky smile "I pushing buttons Dad!" She exclaims then let's out a chuckle. We all burst out laughing. Her comedic timing is unparalleled in 2 year olds, she is whitty and clever and so very funny. It's one of the things I cherish most about her. So much waiting has occurred in Justin and I's life together. ...

Update on the property

Just a quick update on the property. We got the tally back from the dumpster and Justin removed 4.6 tones of garbage. He also removed 2 cars, one truck (?) which I have named the Chevy Ford (thanks to my friend Larissa). His work has paid off and now he can just work on felling trees in January. The space has opened up a lot without those vehicles and it's nice to not just see garbage when you walk around the property.  The cars were removed on Tuesday. The truck will hopefully be removed next week. I  am hoping Justin can take a small break over Christmas once his contract ends so he can rest and recuperate. So much work is yet to come.  Onwards and upwards.

34 days and counting

Here we are - 34 days until our plans are enacted. We are sitting on the precipice of the life that we have been working towards for the last 5 years. Its miraculous really that we have made it here - and we have so much more accomplished than we planned. We have two beautiful daughters who are healthy and happy. We are free from the slavery of debt. We have big plans and big dreams - most of which we are setting out to accomplish in the next 5 years! Our big move - a move across the 2nd largest country in the world - starts in 34 days. I say starts because that is when we have to move out of this house. We still don't really know what it will look like just yet. There are many things up in the air, but we do know that we are going to move out of this house. We do have property in CB and we are working on purchasing property in AB at this moment. We will know more in a few days when the assessment comes back - as I said, there is a lot in the air. We are happy, healthy, and ready ...
