We blew through Saskatchewan - it was not very inspiring although it wasn't as flat as advertised. There are more coulees than I expected. We spent the night just outside Moosimin Sask - we needed to be close to the border of Manitoba as we had to go through it all in one day so we didn't have to quarantine. We saw the world's biggest moose just outside of Moose Jaw... check! I was shocked by the amount of salination in the fields in Saskatchewan... I hope this is something that they are working on fixing. The lack of rain this summer sure hasn't helped I am sure.
Manitoba was not very interesting either and the roads are not very spectacular. The smoke has progressively worse as we got closer to Winnipeg. It was probably the bumpiest road I have ever been on and I hope Lulu the car wasn't negatively impacted. We zipped through the province and made it to Ontario early in the evening. The smoke from the forest fires was pretty bad well into Ontario.
We made it to Kenora, ON and found some grub but no hotel that was under $250/night so we continued on to Vermillion Bay - an hour away - and that's where we are tonight.
Sally konked out just as we got to Vermillion Bay - we were up early and by the time we got to the hotel it was after 10 PM Saskatchewan time, so who can blame her. She has spent her days coloring, playing with toys, watching shows and playing games on the phone. She has been able to keep herself entertained and we have only heard the dreaded "Are we there yet?" three or four times so far. Ruby is doing so well, we only had to make 3 road side stops for her today to eat and she slept or cooed in her seat for the majority of the day. She continues to be a chill and happy baby. Both our girls are doing so well and they are making it easy to travel - we couldn't ask for more.
Tomorrow, we try and tackle a large chunk of Ontario. We figure it will take the better part of 2 days to make it through the province. We plan on coming through slower next time. I hope the smoke subsides a bit so we can see more of the countryside - Ontario has proven to be beautiful up to this point and I hope we can see more.
